Suuri Snadi - great Model Making and Miniature Show 17.-18.10.2015!

This year’s Suuri Snadi event organizes from the 17th to the 18th of October and it’s bigger than ever! Suuri Snadi is an event for people collecting or having an interest towards model railroads, dolls and dollhouses, models and miniature building as well as old and vintage toys. This event gathers enthusiasts and collectors from all these fields to the Energia Areena in Vantaa for the weekend.

Model railroads and Car Tracks
- XXXIII National Model Railroading Days present a great number of model railroads and locomotives, wagons, ready built Finnish models etc. You can find anything related to model railroading on sale: model railroads, locomotives, wagons, tracks etc. Armour Guild will be showing the Parola Tank Museum’s Sturmgeschütz III ‘Sturmi’ assault gun in front of the entrance.



Model Makers Join In! Nordic Challenge in this Show
- Model makers are actively involved in this year’s Suuri Snadi event. Suomen pienoismallirakentajat ry (Finland’s model makers) is organizing a great miniature model competition NORDIC CHALLENGE for model makers. For more information about the competition, go to http://www.pienoismallit.net (in Finnish).
- You can find numerous fascinating models on display as well as plenty of miniature building supplies on sale.
- You can also get familiar with the intricate art of miniature building.

Dollhouses, Dolls and Teddy Bears
- Finland’s biggest Dollhouse and Doll Fair gathers collectors of dollhouses, dolls, teddy bears and vintage toys together at Suuri Snadi.
- Miniature Housing Fair will present fairytale themed miniature rooms and doll houses.
- The theme for Miniature Furniture Competition of 2015 is “seat”. Come and see how this has inspired the contestants!
- Dollhouse and doll enthusiasts will also organize workshops at the event.

Building Sets and Old Toys
- Old Toy Swap will present a huge variety of tin cars and wind-up toys as well as different kinds of building sets and collector model cars. Come and see if you can find nostalgic toys from your childhood!

Hobby and Work Shops
- Dollhouse and Doll organizations, miniature and model railroading organizations will all present their crafts to the audience.
- Product demonstrations

Product Presentations and Sale
- Over 200 sellers will showcase and sell their products: dolls, dollhouse items, teddy bear and model railroading supplies etc.

The Nordic Challenge (NC) Scale Modeling show is renewed! The fourth NC will be arranged as a part of
Suuri Snadi, The Great Model Railroad, Modeling and Miniature Show on the 17th and 18th of October at
Vantaan Energia Arena. Great news for the modelers is that this time Suomen pienoismallirakentajat Ry
(Finnish scale modelers association) is arranging NC jointly with IPMS Finland and Finnish Car Modelers
Association (FCMA).
Last year in NC there were over 500 models and now we are targeting to break the 700 model barrier!
There will be model competitions, seminars and workshops as usual, and our traditional modelers’ own
Xmas party will also be arranged. We are also expecting a record amount of international modelers.
Do you feel that modeling is getting too serious and your inspiration is lost? What if this time you would try
something completely different? We have a new class called Area 51. There are no scale limitations and
there is only one rule: you have made the model yourself and it is something that you have never done
before. Instead of doing your 10th Tiger tank – what about a Wallace and Gromit figure or replacing the
Spitfire with a scratch diorama of your family’s summer cottage? Or what if instead of making the Porsche
911 you try to make Maschinen Krieger Lum-168 Camel? There will be no judging in Area 51, but there will
be a lottery with several prizes in this class. Another new class is theme class, which this year is The
Fabulous 1950s. You can also bring your model to exhibition without participating in the competition.
There is a specific Display Only class.
This year IPMS Open will be arranged in conjunction with Nordic Challenge. With one registration your
model will participate in both competitions.
Advance registration facility for competition models (also for Area 51 and Display Only) will be
opened on the 15th of July 2015. Last day to register in advance is 10.10.!

Please register your models in advance to avoid the queues. Notice! Only modelers registered in advance
will get the free entrance to the Suuri Snadi show.
When to bring your models to the event? You can bring them on Friday 16.10. from 17:00 to 20:00 and
Saturday from 9:00 to 12:00.
When to pick up you models? You can pick them up on Sunday from 16:30 onwards.
Registration fee is 5 €/modeler and will be collected at the show. Additional information can be found
